Mountain Biking Lake Poway

****   Add a review
#188 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California
#2,608 in the world

Lake Poway is a singletrack loop around the lake and behind the Damn. around the lake is a nice XC ride and behind the damn is a nice DH with switchbacks. once your at the bottom you have to ride up the other side. ugh.

Great aerobic workout. Fireroad, wide, probably not interesting to serious riders but I go here for exercise.

Go early in the morning during the week to avoid heavy traffic. The trail up is brutal. the down hill is fun and extremely fast. If you want you can go all the way to Potato Chip rock. Just be warned that you will need to walk/carry your bike at some spots.

Good all around short trail, with decent downhill, and switchbacks. The up Hill is a lung burner. WATCH OUT for hikers on the downhill.

This is moderate to intermediate bike riding. there can be good cardio on the return side at the bottom of the dam. This gets high recommendations.
