Mountain Biking Lake Rim Park Trail
#212 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
It's a well marked trail with several water crossings that, depending on recent weather, can be pretty good. At about the 2.5- 3 mile mark if there has been recent rain, it becomes extremely difficult, but can be passable. Worth the ride, and a good place to hit up for a quick ride after work. There are a couple of trails that go off away from the lake that have some jumps and a few that go towards the power lines. There you can find some rock gardens to play in, as well.

Across from the fish hatchery: From the Lake @ Lake Rim Park go up the hill (Directly across from the boat ramp). It's in the back, right corner of the parking lot before the dock.
This trail is not open
Thank |Sucks. There is a fence blocking it
Thank |There is closed I don't know whay
Thank |Good little ride some water and mud could be difficult if not paying attention little turn off a mile up with rolling hills and jumps me and my two girls 9 & 11 had a good time.
Thank |Ive ridden this trail a few times before and is decent. Issue is the recent ice storm has caused numerous trees to fall and block the trail. After navigating around about 10 i came to a point where it was completely blocked. Recommend we get a crew out there with a chainsaw otherwise do not waste your time.
Thank |This is usually a decent trail, but the recent ice storm has caused numerous downed tees in front of the trail. I navigated around about the first 10 downed trees, stickers jacked up my legs, and eventually the trail was completely impassable. Need a crew and a chain saw to clear it.
Thank |I went last Sunday (which was a terrible decision ) it was raining and muddy. I wanted to try my new bike. I'm very new to mountain biking. I thought the trial was decent and enjoyable. Anybody wants to ride, let me know. I'm him rookie but looking to get into this and later on down the road. Hit up a down hill course
Thank |This is a really fun trail, but it has a few downsides. Firstly, its relatively short, especially if you stay within the limits of the actual park (which is unmarked). If you keep going down the path you will get to a powerline break. Somewhere around here this becomes private land, but the trail continues along the powerline break and into some woods. In these woods there may be some people shooting guns off to one side into a berm near the lake. At this point you can take one of two trails to a cotton field. One goes through the woods, the other follows the power lines. You can actually go all the way to cliff dale and onto Fort Bragg if you cross the road. The other downsides are that this is heavily trafficked by hikers/runners, especially the first few miles, and the mud. When it rains, stay off this trail. It turns into a lot of mud patches, and the stream crossings, which are normally easy, become really slick. All the way to Cliffdale is about 4.5 miles you can cross and continue without running into any fences for another few miles as well.
Thank |Today was the first day in a while where the temp dropped below 80 degrees so I thought I take my bike out for a ride. Before I rate this trail let me just say I was in Alaska for a while so my view might be a little off. The trail is not intermediate at all. There is nothing as far as jumps, bumps or anything to get some air. It is not well maintained and the rain washed out a lot of areas of the trail. Looked around for some side trails to see if there is more action but it was the same there. Not a bad trail for a little hike with the kids or a easy beginner type trail. If you are looking for a thrill or even a raised heartbeat then this is not a trail for you. Again I am not discrediting other riders here. The trails in Alaska are amazing and that is what I am used to. Have fun guys and gals.
Thank |Main trail is filled with hikers, runners, and dog walkers for at least the first two miles or so. This section is also the primary portion with water crossings. Just off to the right (opposite from lake) are a bunch of single tracks. There are some green and red trail markers which feature some technical single track
Thank |@ toasterbiscuit:
Thank |The bridges are part of the walking trail on the other side of the road. It is on the park side that is not around the lake.
Photos 7 and 8 show some kind of a bridge. I just rode this trail and never came across this bridge. Where is it?
Thank |This is a good trail, but it's also a walking trail. So you have to be careful. There's also a little trail that leads around the lake as well. You can see a 360 tour at www.fayettevillevt.com.
Thank |This is an add on for a couple of add on single tracks that are well marked along the way on the power line portion. Rode them last night, and the blue route is a good ride. Get on it!
The MAIN TRAIL is wide open and good to go. Some of the single tracks that are off of the trail may need some maintenance.

Not a bad ride, improves with weather.
Thank |Don't under-estimate any water crossings...
