Mountain Biking Lake Sonoma

****   Add a review
#69 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California
#1,192 in the world

Location of the 'Billy Cross Racing' events. Races are pretty low key
but the course is great. The races cosist of 2-4 loops around the 6 mile track, depending on racing
category. Highly Recommended!!!

You can also do a loop around the south side of the lake. 20 mile. To connect the loop you must ride across the bridge on Rockpile Rd. Bring a lot of water very remote.

Getting there
Lake Sonoma is about an hour and a half north of San Francisco on the 101, about 14 miles west of the city of Healdsburg. Take the 101 north to the Dry Creek Rd exit of Healdsburg, and make a left. Follow that road till it makes a 90 degree turn at the base of the dam, then stay on that road up the hill to the bridge. Two miles past that, you will see a sign and the road for Liberty Glen Campground, which you will make a left into. Follow that down, then when the road "Y"s after the toll booth, go to the left. Follow that about an 1/8th of a mile to Campground "E". Park office phone: (707) 431-4533

We rode around the lake 20 miles, 4,000'. 5 miles were on pavement as that is the only way to South Lake trailhead. The rest was all singletrack. Short, steep up and down.
