Mountain Biking Lake to Lake
#96 of 388 mountain bike trails in Wisconsin
A double track that connects two great state recreation areas in the heart of the beautiful Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest. Very easy doubletrack with several areas of nice flow. Great place to get out and ride and see some of the best scenery that Wisconsin has to offer. Also a great place to take beginner riders to help introduce them to bike riding. Unlike neighboring New Fane trails, no State Trail Pass is needed to ride here.

The trail connects Mauthe Lake with Long lake. You can start at Long Lake or Mauthe Lake State Recreation Area or in the middle of the trail in Dundee.
Well-maintained double tracked easy trail, mostly crushed limestone. It has gradual ups and downs and many flat sections. A hybrid bike works just fine. It runs from Mauthe Lake to Long Lake thru Dundee. It is easiest to find the Mauthe Lake end, but unfortunately the day I was there the Mauthe Lake end was flooded, perhaps about .8 mi. Finding the Long Lake entrance was a challenge--hint: it's in the campground. Park in the visitor lot. There are also parking areas in Dundee, also not well marked.
There are two short boardwalks. The trail is mostly in the open along prairie, town and farmland. There is a short forested part near Mauthe Lake, but can't speak to the flooded part. The locals said it floods quite often. Overall it is pretty and a good way to get back into biking or have a first mountain biking experience.
Thank |A gorgeous ride through the heart of the Kettle Moraine. Experience forests, swamp, lakes, prairies and so much more. Nice easy doubletrack. Great for young children and beginners.
