Trail is overgrown with several trees down. Park personnel have not been able to do maintenance this year. Tread is too steep and washed out in several areas.

Sept. 5, 2015: the 1st 2 miles is closed but as the 2012 review noted this is way more a hiking trail than mtb. I'm a decent intermediate technical rider but the closeness of the rocks and tightness of the turns doesn't accommodate bikes well. Go about 10 miles south to Lincoln Lake for great, very rideable trails.

This trail is eroded severely and not meant to be traversed by bikes. It seems like it is purpose built for hiking. This should be on your do not ride list. Save yourself the drive and avoid it. The lake does have a nice day-use park area. But that is the only pro to this trail.

The trail is great. Very scenic ride and awesome riding with several flat sections to enjoy the beauty of the Ozarks and along the banks of the Illinois River. But also with several ridges and ravines you ride into and climb out the other side make the ride difficult in parts. The ice storm caused alot of damage but the trails slowly being cleaned up. * Review edited 2/25/2009
