Mountain Biking Little Laramie Trails

***   Add a review
#27 of 256 mountain bike trails in Wyoming
#3,385 in the world

Old logging roads converted to x-country ski trails. All singletrack but with wide lanes. Rocks, ruts, logs, and gullies. Snow is usually clear by mid-June, and there are very few people using the trails in summer. The trail system crosses Forest Road 101 that you can ride to the top and take the trails down; but the trails aren't that tough. Trails well marked for skiiing, good parking, and many camping opportunities. Meadow Loop Trail and Little Laramie Loop. Harder than Corner Mountain Trails.

Getting there
Take US HWY 130 west of Laramie to through Centennial into the Snowy Mountains. A few miles past Centennial, still on US 130, pass over the North Fork Little Laramie River and turn right into to the Little Laramie Trailhead. Pick up a map when you pass the Ranger Station/Visitor Center before the trailhead.

This is a surprisingly fun network of ski trails. There are enough technical challenges to be interesting, plenty of beautiful high mountain forests, and one great place to catch air when ripping down the descent on the west side. This network has a lot in common with its cross-the-highway cousin, Corner Mountain. Both are quiet and uncrowded in the summer and offer great riding. Of the two, I prefer this one due to the longer climbs and more technical spots.

I rode this rocky singletrack on 13 May, 2006. The singletack could be called doubletrack because trails are wide, and often don't have a distinct path. Meadow loop has several gullies to traverse. Riverside Loop is rocky towards the trailhead, but smooths some as you go up. Lodgepole Loop is a little more smooth. It'll be a rocky climb no matter which path you take up, but coming back down is a blast. North Fork Little Laramie River is scenic.
