Mountain Biking Double Rainbow
#387 of 1,395 mountain bike trails in Colorado
The Double Rainbow Trail runs about 3 miles one-way up from the upper parking lot for the Methodist Mountain Trail System near the beginning of the Little Rainbow Trail (NOT the Methodist Mountain trailhead high up on the actual Rainbow Trail) until it dead ends on 4x4 road 5668B.
This singletrack is a fantastic piece of trail that swoops down into dips, flies along hillsides, gets serious exposure on top of knobs, and climbs up the side of the mountain. In short, this trail is rocking!
Double Rainbow connects to Pot-o-Gold, which climbs all the way to the upper Rainbow Trail.

Start from the Methodist Mountain Parking Lot
This is a great stretch of trail. I wouldn't say that it's technical, but I'd agree that some of the exposure and side slopes it follows will cause you to pause the first time you ride it. It has a nice flow both out and back and a great addition to a longer Rainbow ride.
Thank |A fun addition to Little Rainbow. It starts out pretty mellow but as you progress the trail on the side cuts is definitely narrower than on Little Rainbow. The exposure, for my first ride, was a little more than my pacemaker was calibrated for. Looking forward to getting more comfortable on this one. Combined with Little Rainbow and Racetrack for an out and back this makes for a good length of non-tech singletrack.
Thank |This was a nice easy fun ride for the whole family. The trail has nothing technical and fun up and downs. The trail is loose rocks and easy to slip out on some turns. Still a good beginner trail.
Thank |Love this trail!
It is the jewel in the Methodist Mtn for me.
Thee are a number of tight, exposed corners that all make me smile - well done to the trail builders.
Seems to be labelled on maps as 'Double Rainbow' now.
Thank |Most definitely 5 stars! While not technical in the rocky sense, this trail is narrow, exposed, swoopy, offers great views... yeah, it's just a ton of fun!
