This is one techy trail! Lots of baby heads/rock gardens and quite a few water bars. Near the end of the trail you'll encounter five switchbacks.
The route is pretty straight forward except for two areas. The first is a large clearing that you'll come to about three miles into the ride. You'll want to aim hang a left and aim for the edge of the trees/rock formation. The second is when you finish the trail you'll want to hang a left on the gravel road to get back to your vehicle. Once the construction is done along the road you will be able to park right at the end of the trail. For now it's a three mile ride back to the vehicle. Thankfully it's mostly downhill.
While the route finding can be tricky and it definitely isn't "easy," MacDonald Pass is a great big mountain Montana ride, with a rewarding, fast descent!
