Mountain Biking Machesan

*****   Add a review
#1 of 18 mountain bike trails in South Korea
#636 in the world

MacheSan trail is a single track trail on a ridge line. It starts with a tough, but not technical, climb. The
ridge line is fast and flowy, with a series of ups and downs as you progress up the mountain. Advanced
riders will enjoy this trail; beginners will learn all the aspects of trail riding and have fun too.

Getting there
From Camp Casey main gate (Gate 1), heading West, cross Hwy 3, then the by-pass highway, and then
across the bridge. Once across bridge, turn right and follow the road (west side of river), for about 1/2
mile. You will come upon a large wooden sign, at a small three-way intersection, that depicts a trail
network - this is MacheSan entry point. Follow the small farm road up through a small drop-down gate
and up the road; it will turn into a rough jeep trail shortly after the gate. Continue to follow the trail up
and up past a small little camp (on right) until a Y in the trail. This is the trail head. Continue left on the
dirt path which turns into single track - the trail continues to the right and follows the mountain ridge line
for a few miles.

Liked the ride but had a lot of fallen leaves covering up the trail making it slippery.

I'm new to the sport and some buddies took me along for the ride. The initial climb is brutal but once you're at the top it's a blast. The first time I rode it I got a little Battle wound from not having confidence in my bike. The second time I rode it at night and that's what I needed. The third time was yesterday and it was amazing. It's the perfect trail for beginners and advanced riders. Although there are a few steep climbs that I still can't make it up without un-clipping there are plenty of fast flowing descents that make the whole trail worth it.

If this is a trail that you have yet to try get up grab your bike and go! Now! You won't be disappointed.

this trial is nice to do in the weekend. the initial climb to the trial system is all gravel and you'll have to pedel you're way up to the mountain. once you get to the top theres a small gazel where you can rest for a bit and take pictures overseeing the city. from there is a nice cruise with small ups and downs as well as some challenging short climbs. its all single track. its nice for beginners to learn to ride as it has a nice variety of decents, dirts, gravel and rock gardens. the trial overall gotten hit little bad from the past winter and theres lots of water runways which eroded the trial but its still ridable. my favorite technicle spot is riding through the rock garden with small drops in them as well at the end becuase the trial will open up and you can ride pretty fast through it. you'll wanna be careful halfway through the trial becuase the ROK army has made a bunker in the middle of the trial so dont do what i did and eat it hard in the dirt ^.^

Q: Hello, i am going to try this trail soon. I noticed that the map showing the trail head does not agree with the provided written directions. Can someone clarify? Thanks!
