A narrow, rocky path winding through dense foliage, surrounded by green shrubs and trees, leading into a bright, open area. Sunlight filters through the leaves, illuminating the trail. Mac

Mountain Biking Mac's Gap #482

*****   Add a review
#215 of 549 mountain bike trails in North Carolina
#5,179 in the world

Mac's Gap is 3.1 miles long one-way and composes some of the best singletrack in the valley. It is a very diverse trail, with some wide-open gradual descents, fast raucous bombs, deep creek crossings, climbs... you get the picture, it offers a little bit of everything! It connects from the Cold Mountain trailhead and heads to the west past both Big Green Mountain and Little Green Mountain, connecting to numerous other trails along the way. It is the main bike conduit in the southern portion of the valley, so if you are going to build a big loop you will need to utilize this trail.

Probably my favorite trail in the valley. This would be a fun (but pretty short) ride as a simple out-and-back. Some parts are washed out and could do with a reroute, but all in all this is a sweet ride!
