Mountain Biking Mailboxes

****   Add a review
#79 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California
#1,372 in the world

This is a pretty fast downhill trail. Has a few Northshore items thrown in, a few good log drops and a couple VERY technical lightning fast downhills. Good riding for most abilities. Where the trail branches (2 times), you will want to take the left fork. Ends up in the middle of wide open pasture, which you follow that trail back to Empire Grade. Very fun ride!!

Getting there
Starting out from the main UCSC campus entrance, you head up Empire Grade Rd. Once at the peak of Empire Grade you will hit "Twin Gates". This trail actually starts just before you reach Twin Gates. You will see a dirt road with a group of mailboxes in front of it. Take this dirt road. At the bottom you will find the entrance to Mailboxes.

The dirt road is a private road and should not be used. Also it should be noted that there are often riders on horseback, walkers and joggers who now often use this trail.

Very fun trail! Gap jumps most of the way down (can go around if you don't want to do them) so small drops. 10min ride downhill approx.

In my opinion this is the best trails in SC.Its flowy on the top with some nice gaps. Then if you keep going to red mailboxes it gets steep and technical which is very fun

Awesome little flow trail. Very typical of Santa Cruz style. Smooth flow with great transitions with a few nice bumps thrown in for fun. Short trail, but easy to loop a couple of times with an easy climb or can also be connected to other networks for a longer ride.

Thanks to Freeriding Goofs making unsafe stunts on a bbotleg. To ride it and get caught is $250.00 and they keep your bike. If your bike in pounds is higher than you I.Q. stay home and drink Mountain Dew. Goofs have also closed Lockemup and Dead Camper. Thanks Guy's
