Great trail system out by Harrisonburg Virginia, lots of climbs but the downhills make it all worth it! Plenty of different trails to ride greens, blues, blacks, some of the blues are definitely easy enough for beginners. Quarantine was my favorite trail I rode when I was there, flowy blue trail but very doable for almost anyone. Definitely a must ride destination and the bike park is close by as well. Get out, shred, and be safe!

Link is myself hitting Quarantine here at Western Slope! Check it out

Real mountain biking not for the faint of heart. Rocks, roots, drops, jumps, berms, creek crossings and lots lots more of fun. Will make you smile after descending 27.4 mph top speed '????'????'????????????

Fantastic place to ride. Great variety of trails. Get ready to do some serious climbing if you want the views and the killer downhills.

The bummer: You have to pay to get in. The good: all the money goes to support trail building and maintenance activities. Really fun rocky trails with moderate climbs. The vista at the top of the mountain makes the climbs worth while. Great place to get lost for an afternoon.

Get the map from the bike shop and go get lost in the mountains! This was an epic ride for sure. I highly recommend combining these trails with a long weekend camping trip. Lots of singletrack to keep you pedaling for hours. Hit a few really steep climbs which were made up for with awesome downhill runs. It is also worth mentioning that the trail is very popular. You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but you will definitely see other riders.

Very nice trail system. I only scratched the surface with a ride of the Blue and Orange trails. About 8 miles. Very well marked and matches the trail difficulty ratings on the map very well. Developed and maintained by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition http://www.svbcoalition.org/massanutten.php the trail system is very good and makes superb use of available terrain. It is a MOUNTAIN (only 2000') so there is some extended climbing. But in my opinion the climbing works well with the trail system to allow adequate recovery between steep sections. Truth be told the blue and orange trail really don't have too many "steeps" to them. It is pleasant climbing compared to some systems that beat you to death on the climbs. There are over 30 miles of trail so there is something for everyone. The trails certainly contain a lot of rock gardens and roots, some very cool technical features such as step ups and drops. But overall any intermediate can get out there and ride. Take your time on the climb and enjoy the downhill. Walk the few scary sections. Experts will enjoy the trails. Probably the best "Mountain" mountain biking near the D.C. and Richmond metro areas. It has alot of best features of Northern VAs trails rolled into one spot. Definitely worth a drive and the price of admission. Very scenic. Open year round. When I first read about this system I thought people were only shuttling the uphill but after talking to the folks at SVBC I realized this is easily ridden up and down. Portions of this trail will cause it to be rated Extremely Difficult on the "Singletracks" scale. Please keep in mind it is very do-able for intermediates if you take your time and walk around the scary parts. Follow the marking on the map from SVBC and grow your riding to match the trail! Also before some idiot complains that this doesn't compare to riding Fruita and take the 5 stars away I certainly emphasize that this is a regional 5. I don't mean to imply you should load your bike up on your car and base a MTB vacation around Massanutten. It is very nice if you are in the area. But if you live in Moab you won't be impressed.

There is access to over 30 miles of singletrack on the westeren slope of Massanutten Mountain. Go by the bike shop at Massanutten and ask for a map. There is a nominal charge. You must be a guest of the mountain or pay an access fee. The Shenandoah Bicycle Club has done an awesome job of creating and maintaining a fantastic trail system. This is a must ride if you are in the Shenandoah Valley.
