Part of the Aliso Creek / Woods Canyon trail system.
Great climbs, with intense intervals.
Thank |The 1st review was from a guy going up the hill from wood canyon. If you are going from down in the valley up Mathis, I would rate this half a star because I hate uphill...and this SOB goes straight up. I don't know why anyone would punish themselves like that.
Now coming down Mathis from the top on West Ridge? Totally different story. I go up to the top of West Ridge through the neighborhood (the uphill from wood canyon using Lynx is way to brutal). You get a nice little ride on West Ridge. You pass Lynx 1st on your left, then rock-it (awesome more technical downhill) on your left, then through some light ups and downs until you get to a short, decent incline. When you get to the top of this incline there is a little stand with a bench to rest on. Hang a left right after the stand and the fun begins. There is nothing very technical about this downhill at all. It is a good steep downhill to practice high speed. There are several spots to get some solid air too. This is a double track so watch for people coming up. This is track is great for good ol fashioned speed and there is an all out bomb at the very end.
Once at the bottom I link up with wood canyon, take a left and head back up through the park. Highly recommend the downhill.
Thank |Brutally steep climb.
