Definitely bring a map! Some can be found at http://www.racemichaux.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=16, which shows race courses mapped out by the Gettysburg Bike shop, which holds a series of races there annually. I've spent hours lost in the woods, unexpectedly riding over 30 miles. There are powerline trails, singletrack, fire roads, tough climbs, sweet downhills, beautiful scenery (definitely ride by the Pine Run reservoir), and all sorts of flora & fauna. Spend a lot of time there, and you can find what you like.

Take Route 30 east from Chambersburg or west from Gettysburg. Take 233 north (Pine Grove Road) at a traffic light. After about 2 miles take a left onto Shippensburg Road. Drive up the hill and there will be a snowmobile trail lot on the left (about 1.5 miles). Park and hit the trail. I usually ride down the fire road, take a left onto the powerline trail, then hang a right onto a great downhill trail.

^ My thoughts exactly! 9 miles of super tight techy singletrack with ONE flowy DH section that u can really hit hard.... followed by a couple miles of boring fire road and a mix of climbing rock gardens and trail. Fun to do once.
Thank |Very rocky - a great challenge!
Thank |This is the same trail as Curse Of The Dark Hollow. Rocky, steep and fun. Not fun here is navigation - signs are few and far between and loosing a right trail is easy. On the other hand, it's hard to find these days a trail so amusing, non-sterilized and adventure-inspiring. Start early, pack water, food and medical kit (just in case) and have fun.
Thank |I'll be back to ride this place again
This place is straight up hateful...in a good way. Steep steep steep, and rocks galore, don't go looking to break any land-speed records. 5 miles will feel like 50. Hope your suspension is plush, too, you'll need it...
Thank |This trail has it all, difficult to moderate terrain for all intermediate to advanced riders. Hills, streams, technical singles and absolutely beautiful scenery
Thank |This is an awesome trail in the mountains of PA. Its really rocky and right now pretty muddy. They just had a race there this past weekend after almost a week of rain. Its messy but a challenging loop. Easy to get lost, I carry my map just in case.
Thank |Rocks, rocks, and more rocks. I used to race here back in the mid-90's with M.O.R.E back in the Ironmaster days. Very tech-y singletrack in the old school way. Lots of fun and very challenging. Easy to get lost, so ride with a local.
Thank |This is the curse of Dark Hollow. See the next post for better directions. Getting lost here is easy.
Thank |Sick Sick Sick!!! Great ride, good loops, bomber rock gardens. Get with a local or go and explore on your own, but be prepared to spend time if your unfamiliar with this zone. Many hidden trails that are killer! Some of the best downhill singletrack I have ever ridden. This zone is a must see...
My Heckler feels at home on these mountains.
