Mitchell Memorial Forest Mountain Bike Trail

Two bicycles are parked beside a large tree in a wooded area. The first bicycle is red, equipped with a water bottle holder, and is leaning against the tree trunk. The second bicycle is white with yellow accents, also resting nearby. Surrounding the bikes are lush green foliage and scattered leaves, with a dirt path leading through the natural setting. Mountain Biking Mitchell Memorial Forest Mountain Bike Trail

****   Add a review
#8 of 116 mountain bike trails in Ohio
#540 in the world

Mitchell Memorial Forest is a Hamilton County (Ohio) Park and the Mountain Bike trail within the forest was built by the volunteer members of CORA (Cincinnati Off Road Alliance) with the permission, support and help of Hamilton County Parks. This great relationship and the hard work of many volunteers has resulted in a terrific 4 mile loop built very carefully to IMBA standards. The trail is 95% singletrack with nice, gradual elevation change. Terrific maintenance and several whoop-dee-doo roller coaster sections throughout keep the flow rolling while some great switchbacks,
narrow between the tree passages, rock gardens and a log-over or two make this trail great for the Beginner and fun for the intermediate rider as well. Those looking for a workout can ride the loop a few times in either direction thanks to the fact that the trail is non-directional and both ends are located opposite one another in the parking lot. Please help CORA keep this a terrific trail by following IMBA's rules of the trail- Resist the urge to ride when the trail system is wet. Enjoy your ride at Mitchell Memorial Forest.

This is a fun trail system. There is not a lot of terrain here, but they used what the had well. Well marked and a good ride.

I fast hike this trail all the time. I agree that you as bikers have the right of way. It is easy for me to hop off the trail for a second to let you pass. You on the other hand cannot stop and cannot see us as quickly. I have at times had my music up and missed a biker coming but I always apologize and get out of the way as quickly as I can.

I stopped here a few weeks ago for an hour after work. It's a well kept trail that is a lot less work than Devou. It's not horribly long, but there's more fun to find every lap. I am going to find my way back here more often. Get a park pass or pay $3 to get in.

The guys who built this trail could give clinics in sustainable trail building. It is a pretty fun trail. There is a good mix of flow and technical areas. There are some moderately punchy climbs and the overall elevation change is not as big as you might think when you drive to the park. It was worth traveling out of our way to check it out.

I'm getting fed up with this notion of a trail being bi directional. I'm lived in the UK and in Nz and this very unsafe practice of allowing riders to freely go in either direction is unbelievable. So, can someone please explain why trails are bidirectional? It really does not encourage one to push it... In case someone is doing the same but going the other way.

Mitchell is my 'go to' trail. We can get there in about 25 minutes on a weeknight and park free once we get our Hamilton park pass.

The 'A' trail provide a good early season workout with a good mix of twisty climbs and descents, while the 'B' trail is more technical for later in the summer when bike handling skills have started to come back online.

We always find a good community of other riders out on the trail here as well.

As others have mentioned, the trail steward is to be congratulated. The trails here just keep getting better and better.

This was a great all natural trail with awesome climbs and downhills! I loved the flow and speed! I would go here again and again! Bring $3 for admission to the park

A ridiculous amount of switchbacks. I suggest riding counterclockwise as you'll hit most going downhill instead of up(like I had to do). Decent trail by OH standards and I was a little surprised at how much work was involved! I'll probably go back a few times next year.

Love this trail! We've been on about 4-5 trails in the area and this is our favorite. It's got all the bells and whistles and is not too difficult for a moderate rider. Love the switchbacks and the lush, beautiful surroundings.

Not much elevation. 8 miles of trail. However, undulating terrain keeps you working. Tight twisty. Couple downhill off camber runs. This run was in 15deg weather so, take it with grain of salt as far as speed potential. More techy than flow trail, has some rocks and roots.

Fun trail. Rode trail A clockwise and it is pretty much a gradual downhill until half way and then it is a gradual uphill on the way back. It has good flow and a few really tight switchbacks which were fun.

This is a great trail with two separate loops. Trail A is the easier trail with plenty of twists and turns, rolling downhill sections, narrow passes between trees, and roots. I haven't done trail B as of yet, but it's supposed to be the more challenging trail with more rocks and drop-offs ; I will amend my review once I've ridden it. All in all this is a great, well maintained trail that I would recommend to anyone.

I grew up biking this area over 50 years ago and my compliments to the crew that developed this trail. I've been out West and in the South which is much more wide open. The first thing that I noticed was the width of my bars was not compatable in a few areas. If I did not dismount...I would have done an endo after crashing into a few narrow passages. Intermediate rating is right on, but yet close enough to the trailhead/beginning location that lesser experienced riders can have a great day.

Great trail! I think it was a little better then the Devou Park trail. Much more flow and easier to follow the trail and signs. A lot of switchbacks and doubling back. Very nice, well maintained track. Not too much climbing.

Good stuff here! A nice getaway tucked away close to downtown Cincinnati. MM has some decent climbs and downhill sections to get your HR up. I logged around 8 miles. The new loop is fun, very rocky. Riding clockwise is probably the easiest but going counter adds some techy uphill. Fun stuff, thanks for the trail!!!
