The Moraine Lake Highline trail leads to--you guessed it--Moraine Lake, and the valley of the 10 peaks. Measure 6 miles one-way and 12 miles round-trip, this is pretty easily the best trail in Lake Louise, and one of the most scenic!
The trail climbs steadily up towards the lake, roughly paralleling Moraine Lake Road. It can be ridden as an out-and-back or as a loop with the road.
The tread itself is steep but rideable, with tons of roots and rocks to keep things interesting. The moss and trees and rushing mountain streams are gorgeous!
Note: the upper section closes to bikers in the late summer due to heavy bear activity.
Beautiful climb through the trees to Moraine Lake. The trail is pretty rooty and rocky near the bottom but smooths out and keeps a pretty constant grade once you get farther in. Bombing back down is a blast!
Thank |This is a beautiful backcountry-style trail through the lush Alberta forest. While I'd say it's hands-down the best trail in Lake Louise, it still lacks something to make it a true 5-star trail. Epic views would help, as would better flow, more challenging or interesting trail features, or something else... all that said, don't let that deter you from riding this great trail!
