Mountain Biking Mosquito Lake Trail
#115 of 219 mountain bike trails in Alberta
This trail is all cross country riding and has relentless rolling hills. You'll ride mostly on vegetation rather than packed dirt trails...not a heavily used trail. I had a lot of fun riding here and I was pretty bagged after my ride. I would imagine it would be really muddy if it were raining lots, but I had days of dry weather before going out. Please consider that this area is a long way from anywhere with no cel phone service. I didn't see a soul anywhere and it didn't look like anyone used this trail in a while; although, someone is maintaining it. I saw some bear tracks in the mud too. So, I would go prepared as for backcountry riding. I'm going to explore some of the other trails soon.

Go on HWY 881 from Lac La Biche for about 10 km. Turn when you see a sign Lakeland Recreational Area, and go on a gravel road for 10 more km. You want to end up at Shaw Lake day use area. There will be picnic tables and various shelters. Ride towards the lake and turn left on the main trail and follow this trail for a few kms., you'll eventually see a sign with signs indicating various trails to ride. Take the Mosquito Lake trail...if you want. :0)
