Mountain Biking Mount Margaret
#500 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
The Mount Margaret Trail is widely used by equestrians, hikers, and mountain bikers. Its fairly level terrain is well suited for beginner mountain bikers. The trail passes by a number of campsites and through a variety of open meadows and stands of aspen and ponderosa pine on its way to the top of Mount Margaret, which isnt a mountain at all. Mount Margaret is a rocky precipice that overlooks the North Lone Pine Creek drainage. Except for the last leg of the trail, which is tight technical singletrack, the trail follows an old sandy roadbed. Several side trails lead to Dowdy Lake and make loops with the main trail.

Take Highway 287 North from Fort Collins to to Livermore. Turn west on 74E for 22 miles to the trailhead. The trailhead is on the right side of the highway.
Average trail, but great for young kids just getting into the sport. Biked it with my daughter, Noelle (8), this past Saturday. Views getting there are typical of CO - beautiful.
Thank |A great beginners tail but still fun. Easy to get to and very few people on the trail.
Thank |Easy ride on sometimes sandy doubletrack, except for the last leg to Mt. Margaret. Surprisingly nice view from Mt. Margaret of the Lone Pine Creek Drainage. Well use by horses. Trail options to nearby lakes. Well signed.
Thank |The trails are well signed so getting around is pretty easy. Also the area gets its fair share of equestrian use so please be courtous to other trail users. This is a great trail to see wildlife.
