Mountain Biking Mountain Shadows Open Space

**   Add a review
#1,010 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
#15,427 in the world

Mountain Shadows Open Space runs north and south basically between 30th Street and the north portion of Flying W Ranch Road. On the north end it terminates at Trailblazer Elementary School and little Wickes Park. The terrain falls sharply from west to east and is thus quite steep. There is 3-4 miles of narrow singletrack throughout. The main trail basically runs south to north at the base of the steep slope. From this trail, there are several trails running west up the steep slope on the ridges and small drainages. Though the trails are not technical and the park is small, the riding is still rigorous due to the steep terrain. A few spots will require hike-a-bike for many riders. Chuckwagon Road cuts through the middle of the park.

Though a small park and not technical, many of the trails are quite steep, making this a surprisingly demanding ride. If you are a fairly serious XC rider, this might be a great place to do some hill workouts after work when you're short on time.
