Mountain Biking Nassau Trails

****   Add a review
#13 of 111 mountain bike trails in New Jersey
#1,134 in the world

The Nassau Trail system is a quickly expanding system in High Bridge, New Jersey. The single track to the right of Nassau Road has about 5 miles of mostly flat, windy single track that consists of mostly smooth, however sometimes rocky and rooty singletrack. The northern part of the system has some log skinnies that can challenge advanced riders. To the left of Nassau Road, there are another 3 or 4 miles of single track that is flowy and windy with virtually no rocks or roots, expect for to the northern part of this side, with a couple of rock gardens. Overall, a good ride that can last up to 2 and a half hours.

Has some nice singletrack trails, but some of the "beginner" trails were rocky and not well kept. Also, it's ez to get lost in the network of trails that are mostly unmarked. Other than that, the trails were nice.

I enjoyed this park, it has some good flow and nice hard pack singletrack. Not much steep elevation but quick punchy climbs with some switchbacks. Also has some skinnys and log piles. Trails have been expanded with some great work done throughout. There is also a pump track near by that is supposed to be really fun, have to try it on my next visit. It's worth a look if you're in the area.

You can definitely see that those who built the trails worked hard to create plenty of variety. You can choose to keep it simple and flowy or challenge yourself with some nice drops, small jumps, and rock gardens.
For our first visit to the trails, it was a great day. Met the gentleman responsible for creating and updating the map when we first arrived. He was a huge help and even tracked us down with a copy later to help us navigate the trails. Over and above for sure and truly appreciated.

Great trail system can definitely make it a 3 hour ride if you want. I agree it's similar to six mile. I think it's way rockier and the trail is a bit narrower. Six miles got more log overs and piles of them that are higher. This place has a few fun log skinnies though.

A must-ride trail system in central NJ. Suitable for beginners & intermediates but great fun for experts as well. Well thought out, good condition and well maintained. Easily in my top 3 if not my favorite local trails. Consider it a 6-Mile Run with a couple rockier sections and more elevation.

First time doing this trail and it was a blast! It offers a wide variety of terrain from smooth trails, switch backs, rocky climbs, and logs to balance on. I personally enjoyed the trail to the left of Nassau road although it was a more difficult ride.

Great trail! Can't believe I hadn't discovered it earlier. Reminds me of six mile but more woodsy and less red clay. Tight tight tight single track in some spots, light little hills but fairly flat overall. Some cool obstacles, jumps, berms, and little table tops. Easy to get lost but loops are all short and connect; just pay attention to the trail signs which are pretty good.

On my way to pick daughter at ESU. When I checked Trails app showed that I was 2 miles away while on route 31. So for my first time it was quite a fun ride. Parked at main lot on Naussa road. Followed Nassua trail all the way over to connector. Really prefer that "side" of trail. Smooth and fast 90% of the time. Springs side loop and Rich wood trail are lots of fun. Pretty hard to get lost as you'll always see a house or hear the cars on nearby road. So even if it's getting dark, no need to worry.
Going back on he connector to Chips trail is indeed a challenge. Lots of switchbacks and rocky uphills. But no harm in getting off and walking if you take a turn too wide.
Overall a very enjoyable late summer morning ride. Next time will be even better as I now know the terrain and trails much better.

Tight twisting network of single track. mostly smooth flat single track with short climbs, few short rock gardens and log rides. Ride entire park to get 10 miles.

Rode here today with my wife and 8 y/o twin daughters. The trails are very well built and maintained. We rode the trails north of Nassau Road and had a ton of fun. It is mostly twisting/flowing single track that is beginner friendly with some obstacles to challenge the beginner rider (larger rollers, short rock gardens, small log overs). We only encountered two other pairs of riders on a beautiful afternoon, so probably not that busy typically.

Great trails and easy parking. I plan to go back and check out the section across the street. I have to say, someone put some serious thought into laying out the track to maximize riding distance;well done!

This place could be amazing but the trails make no sense the trails need a better rotulation

Just getting back into mountain biking and found this trail on Singletracks. Absolutely loved it. Great winding routes, with a mix of rocky sections, roots and smooth tracks. Lots of up and downs and back and forths with some great man-made obstacles that fit in great with the environment. Went back for a second run a few days later from the top parking lot and found a whole new set of trails.

Its my "Door to Trail" and I love it! Honestly there are not many trails that are better than this one in my opinion. The newly added upper section really makes this a good ride. The new section was made ~November and it is smooth, fast, and fun. The trails have plenty of switch-backs and turns add to the sweet aesthetics of being in the North Jersey woods. Like I said, overall a VERY good trail system.
