Per NEMBA, "Some very technical and fun singletracks have sprouted up in recent years, making good use of rock faces and other technical challenges. It's now possible to do an extended ride solely on tight, twisty, challenging singletracks. However, definitely look before you ride some of these features, as some are extremely challenging. These trails are currently unblazed." Rumor has it this place will kick your butt if you stray off the fire roads nowadays.

Getting there
95 South to Exit 17 (135W), which becomes Great Plain Ave. Take a left onto Central Ave. This gets confusing - stay on central ave. When you hit the intersection in the middle of Needham, take your left, continuing to follow 135. You'll come to a set of lights after a bit where you'll have to take a left again to stay on Central Ave, which will lead you to the entrace. You'll probably drive past it before realizing that's where it is since the sign is parallel with the road - there's a golf course across the street.

I had a great time riding here. Fun singletrack is easily found all around the forest. The singletrack is not well marked but once you get back to the fire roads it's pretty easy to find your way around.

One mile in NTF is the equivalent of two to three miles in most other places very technical very compact 200 acre site with 15 miles of single track that is so varied that when ridden in reverse is a new and distinct ride. This place will improve your riding...and hike a bike skills.

Great technical trails if you get off the fire roads. The good trails are marked with a red dot on the trees but are missing in some areas and so getting lost is easy. Trails need remarking and the leaves clearing

There are a lot of technical features here and some good fire roads and light trails for beginenrs. Trails are a little over grown and sometimes hard to follow. Signage and markings could be better. Altogether, its a good place to get in a quick ride.

On paper this trail system is small but once you get out there you forget all about the size. Lots of fun singletrack with some technical spots. Definitely accomodates all rider types. Trails are well maintained and access is easy with lots of parking.

Didn't expect to find much here, but I was certainly wrong. Trails are nicely maintained. Started off following the red trail and then onto some unmarked singletrack that was filled with boulder climbs and drops. Trail was cared for and cleared of leaves - wasn't a xc trail in the least, but nicely designed utilizing the natural features with some downhills and drops - fun for the freeriders. Did find some short bursts of fun clear switchback trails as well. Marked trails seemed to be more for xc riding, but I have to give props to those working on the trails here and providing some nice leaf free singletrack to enjoy. Small birdhouses with colored roofs were a unique way to mark trails. Giving a 4 for the work done on the trails and the varied riding available - xc to some freeride opportunities with drops off boulders.* Review edited 12/4/2010

Go behind the pond and take your first left...Then get your butt kicked by really fun and challenging single track. Short steep climbs some steep rollers with rock and fallen trees to adding complexity to a great trail system witch uses the natural terrain to create a hard yet totally fun experience. Best parts are the trails by the rail-tracks on the far side and the sick roller at the trail head (Up the hill on the Left)

NTF has come a long way in the last few years. There is a ton of great technical single track, you just need to know where to go. Tons of rollers, drops, short technical climbs, etc. Some of the best riding in the area (South Shore). If you like Border Land you will like NTF.
If you stay on the easy trails "bring your family" but if you take a little time to explore you will find the goods.... and you will not want to take the kiddies.

Small but somewhat dense. Nemba says 10ish miles back here. Rode about half the perimeter then discovered the singletracks in between. Some unmarked had new trailwork taking advantage of natural rock features. Some nice parts. No serious up/down hills. Can find some nice drops and such if you try. Could be rode by anyone for the most part.

The Red Trail has been extended and is much more MTB-focused than it was before, but I guess it's really not worth it with Cutler Park being so close by. Nice change of pace, though! Plus, there's this weird model train set in the woods...

Try the Green and Red trails for the best single track -- the White trail is entirely doubletrack/fireroad that connects most of the park. Stay on the green track and climb up the huge rock outcropping in the middle of the park for an AMAZING view of the forest from above.

A small incident that occured here: I came upon a stream very quickly and scattered three beautiful young does. I pulled to a stop and watched them run, admiring them as you normally don't seen deer that close. I turned around as I heard a huge rustling in the woods - I WAS BEING CHARGED BY THE MOTHER DEER! She was bounding through the woods towards me, as she must've thought I was attacking her children. Needless to say, THAT was the fastest start I'd had in awhile, and fortunately she stopped chasing me right away when I pedalled away like the proverbial scared rabbit! Funny as heck though... I'll post some pictures of the trail soon.
