Mountain Biking New Germany State Park

***   Add a review
#81 of 99 mountain bike trails in Maryland
#8,225 in the world

Multi-use trails that appear to be designed for cross-country skiing, so are wide
and grassy. The grass makes for slower going and less fun on a mountain bike.
Wide turns and no obstacles make these beginner trails. Dynamite Shack Loop
is a possible intermediate trail -- it is a triangle with a choice 2 long downhills
once you get to the top. Drainage ditches across the downhills provide
opportunities for air time if you hit them right.

there are several mountain bike trails each having a rating of difficulty, these same trails are cross county ski trails in the winter time. popular lick is a 5 mile off road vehicle trail which comes out into the parking lot by the lake. you have swimming, camping, rv, cabins for rent. several miles away you have savage river state forrest good camping, big run state park more camping and bathrooms, savige river reservoir good for canoeing kayaking. the entire area is absolutely beautiful. take your camera, you will be glad you did.

Wide, easy trails. Dynamite Shack Loop is the best (see my trail description above).
