Mountain Biking Ninham
#20 of 301 mountain bike trails in New York
There is no map of the area and it's easy to get lost. Lots and lots of trails. Some of them are extremly technical and difficult. This place is not for beginners. As difficult and challenging as it can be it is also fun. Only one long-ass climb that I know of, but that one is pretty brutal an it can be avoided. Bring your power bars and lots of water because ther are always trails off to the sides that you want to try, but no telling where the'll end.....

From Junction of Rt. 52 and 301 in Carmel, NY, take 301 west, cross causeway, then right on Gipsy Trail Road. Pass "Putnam County Park", About a mile beyond is Ninham Mt. MUA parking on right. Access to fire tower is a bit further on the left.
2 sides of this trail: Tower and Parking Lot. Be wary of hunters in the autumn on the Tower side. Technical rock gardens and extended climbs on both sides. The Parking Lot side is vast and not well marked. DOJ signs restrict a lot of the trails.
Thank |There's a little bit of everything at Ninham, including some downhill sections you won't find at many other places in the area. A ton of tight, technical singletracks as well and plenty of features on and around the trail.
Thank |Super fun place to ride with lots of pretty steep secions, definitely wouldn't recommend for beginners but a very fun place for expierenced riders!
Thank |Ninham has some killer single track and, ahem, you didn't hear this from me, but awesome stuntry. One caution is all the schweet stuff my not necessarily be on State property rather the City of New York. Lots of Watershed land around that place and the trails co mingle.
Thank |great trails. uppers (near the fire road) are advanced/intermediate, several steep downhills with rocks/streams, know your front from back break. double susp reccomm, start with the gravel... down by the guard station are more beginner/intermediate and beautiful. the fire road is worth the lookout but strap on your oxygen. will be back! mad props to trail maintenance!!
