Oak Openings -- Beach Ridge Singletrack Trail

A young person in a bright green "Just Do It" t-shirt is standing next to a mountain bike at a trailhead. They are leaning against a sign that features a map and information about the Beach Ridge Bike Trail. In the background, there are trees, a stop sign, and a signboard displaying trail-building information. The scene is set in a grassy area with blue skies and a sunny atmosphere. Getting there
Park in springbrook parking lot on state route 64' just south of Monclova road. The trailhead starts across SR64, follow the paved Wabash Cannonball trail ** I am not sure if this is new for 2018 but the trail now has a name: "Beach Ridge Singletrack Trail" Also, there is a pump rack, with tools at the trail head

This trail is by far the best mountain bike trail I have seen if you wanted a mountain bike 101 trail. This trail can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be and my first ride on this trail I went with a broken derailleur and was stuck in only one gear the whole ride.
Now the first thing to note is all the obstacles on this course can either be rode around if you are not comfortable handling the obstacle or have a detour trail off to the side. The only exception to this are the bridges that cross the streams. Most of these bridges are constructed to offer some sort of easy challenge whether it be a berm or multiple bumps but nothing really crazy. the trail tends to flow fairly well and for the most part stays pretty open towards the beginning. The trail itself is actually made up of multiple loops with connecting trails in between them. If you wanted to stay on the current loop and not progress to the next one all you do is take the shortcut trail. For the most part the further you go on the trail the more advanced the obstacles become. So between not having to do most of the advanced obstacles if you don't feel you can handle them and being aware of the shortcut trails you can easily cater to your skill level when it comes to this trail and when you are ready to try that obstacle the trail is generally wide enough that you don't have to worry about trees or rocks around the obstacles.
For me the best portion of this trail is the Blue Racer Loop. There is nothing technical about this portion other than some rock gardens but it just flows so nicely and if you have a riding buddy it is set up in such a way you can race them, thus the name of the loop. So you end up with two singletrack trails running in the same direction and you race each other till they merge back together and the loop just keeps splitting and merging.
Now if you are used to more technical trails then this trail is fairly easy for the most part and quite relaxing unless you come here after a rain storm. Anyone familiar with the area knows there trails flood as it is a swampland and along the trail you run into mud pits. I have never been here when it has not recently rained so I am not sure if they are obstacles or just an accident due to the way the trail was made but they make for some excellent muddy riding. Granted if this was not an intended feature of the trail then maintenance must be terrible as it seems everyone loves riding through these pits and I have never seen the trails closed because of this but I also only ride this trail once every few months so I may have been lucky on that note.
The last thing to note on this trail is that it is a one direction trail and it changes based on the day of the week. The direction is very clearly marked at the trail head and since this is the only trail I have found that is like this I have come to love it.

The first half of the trail was fine. The bridges and wooden ramps were great! However the back half of the rail was very wet and mucky. Unridable. This was about 4 days after any rain.

As others have mentioned, for Ohio, a pretty good trail. I didn't ride all of it, but a good share of it.

The one criticism I have is it isn't marked very well, ran into two others who were as confused as I was... mostly it appears to be the 'Hognose hiking trail'

I clicked camping and horseback riding, not on the trail, but very close to where it is,

No flow, cool bridges, better as a hiking trail

All the bridges and obstacles, combined with the views through the Oak Openings Metroparks region, this trail is a favorite.

Great single track trails with many variations. The current trail maps don't include the additional 7 miles of new trail added off the middle of Blue Racer loop. It was a nice surprise to the middle of my run!

Great trail for the area. Not a lot of serious elevation change but great flow in a lot of areas. New areas opened up across state route 64 and another loop that is across from the next county road. Trail is now over ten miles in length.

Very well maintained beginner trail. Took a couple of novices out and they were able to make it all the way through with minimal struggle. Not for thrill seekers, but worth a ride if you want to take it easy and see some natural beauty

This trail is an exciting development for people who live in the area and a worthwhile stop for people who don't. Building it was a joint effort between the Metropark system and a lot of local volunteers. That group created a very fun trail with lots of nice curvy woodsy stretches, some great little dips here and there, some twists and turns through meadows, and some cool engineered pieces (boardwalks, bridges, see-saw). It's enjoyable for intermediate riders and welcoming to beginners, and the encompassing Metropark is also a great place to hike, picnic, etc. The CycleWerks shop in nearby Whitehouse has been organizing Friday evening group rides in summer 2017.

Great beginner trail, my wife&I enjoy. There are a couple areas a beginner might struggle with, but the course is well constructed

Very nice Trail especially considering that it is pretty new. The bridges are expertly built and the trail layout makes good use of the land. The reason I don't give it 5 stars is due to the flat nature of the trails. The Trail is often more like a walking path not truly built for mountain biking. Some of that is due to the fact that it is not been worn in.
However, that may not occur as the trail alternates Direction every other day. It could be marked a little bit better for this as well

This is a great well thought trail. It has some neat bridges and obstacles. Nice and flowly, just be careful of narrow parts and running into other people. But overally it's a great trail and highly recommend it.
