Mountain Biking Oconee River Greenway
#210 of 403 mountain bike trails in Georgia
Trail is all paved, but follows the gently curving Oconee River. A couple of parks offer a little in off
the path creativity, but not much.

Two Trailheads, many good spots to jump on. One trailhead on Lexington, right after crossing
oconee river, stay on sidewalk, cross lexington, follow signs. Other trailhead at Sandy Creek
Nature Center off 441.
Park board was blank grass overgrown. Couldn't find a paved path as mentioned...maybe wrong directions
Thank |According to the signs it is permit parking only. And towing is enforced...very confusing signs here. Called the park line but it was closed so we didnt want to risk it.
Thank |The green way is actually interesting for a change of pace... once. Goes past a couple historic-type buildings, and is quite peacefull and removed despite the fact that it runs through downtown athens.
Thank |If you're bored and dont have a road bike, might as well put some road tires and give it a go.
