Begin your ride at the parking area at Beavertown just south of New Matamoras Ohio. Ride north on Rt.7 for about a couple miles, go past Sheets Run Rd. and take the next road to the left. This is a narrow blacktop road that will climb for a mile or so and take you to Rt.260. Go left on 260 for another couple miles and watch for the trail signs on your left near the community of Yellow House. If you come to Co. Rd. 9 you passed it. Go left onto Ohio View Trail following it, across one gravel road in a few miles. Continue till you come out in the parking area you started at. There are some nice views along the way. One is a spur on your left that climbs a short climb to an overlook. See pic. There are a few steep climbs on this trail however there are some great downhill rewards as well. The first one off Rt.260 is awesome and fast. Be carefull when you reach the steep part there is a fairly tight turn near the bottom and then you shoot across a stream to begin a climb. About 2 miles into the trail you will come to a connector trail that goes hard up a very steep climb on your right. Do not go right, stay on the trail and you will cross Sheets Run Rd. The trail continues on the other side of the road at the three way intersection. At this time the trail goes out a logging road on the left, watch for the trail diamonds (markers). I hope to post some better pictures as soon as the trail opens in April. Note, this trail is like others in the Wayne National Forest. You must obtain a permit to ride. It is easiest if you get a yearly permit and the trails open in April. When you get your permit from the Forest Office in Reno Ohio, just north of Marietta across from the Highway Patrol Station.
Fun but be careful after any kind of rain as cornering the switchback can be difficult.
Thank |This is another superb section in the wayne NF trail system can be rode as an out and back or can be used to connect to other nearby trails. A bit of backroad riding to make an awesome loop
Thank |Much better ride as an out an back. Started at lower trailhead and climbed to Rt 260, rode most of it, a couple of hike a bikes. NIce area
Thank |Hey folks, the trails in the Wayne National Forest open for use again after the 16th of April. Negotiations are in progress to remove the trail access fee for mountain bikers. As soon as we know something I'll pass it on.
Thank |This trail is in great shape. We have been busy for several months getting it in shape for the upcoming Wayne Ultra in June '08. There are several re-routes and Killer Hill has been taken out of the picture. Very sweet ride now. My son and I just did a modified loop with an out and back. Paved road from Beavertown to Sheets Run, up Sheets Run, the right onto OVT. Rode it to Rt.260 (northern trailhead) turned around rode it back, across Sheets Run and back to the truck on the rest of the singletrack. Awesome ! Get you yearly pass and hit all the trails. Ohio View Trail, Scenic River Trail, Archers Fork Loop, NTC, and many of the connectors.
