Mountain Biking Orchard / 5 Mile / Watchman
#47 of 319 mountain bike trails in Idaho
Orchard Gulch, 5 mile Gulch, and Watchman are three interconnected trails in the upper foothills off Rocky Canyon Rd above the Military Reserve system and above Three Bears. Good gulch riding on 5 mile and Orchard and excellent bench-cut exposure on Watchman. Watchman connects to Three Bears. This network is a good upper loop when connected with lower foothills trails. Good views of Boise.

From downtown Boise at the northwest end, take Reserve St. north to Shaw Mountain Road. Continue until it turns into Rocky Canyon Road. Take Rocky Canyon Road about 5 miles past the trailhead to Shane's Loop, past Three Bears, to 5-mile or Orchard Gulch a little further up. Or better yet, ride up from town using the Military Reserve trails, Shane's, and Three Bears.
Great trails in the upper Foothills. Loop it big from downtown.
