First ride out here and all I can say is “fantastic”. What a hidden gem!
The perimeter trail is very well marked every 50-100’ with a small blue rectangular marker. I would strongly recommend having a gps though as some of the turns are not easy to see.
This is an old school hand cut system with lots of natural rock gardens. You have to bring your advanced skills with you Or it will be a really long day. I hate the term technical (to me it means your riding above your skill set) but if you lack confidence go somewhere else.
Old School, back country type of trail. This is not a buffed bike trail, it's what mountain biking used to be, riding bikes on old washed out logging roads, and hiking trails. I was in dirt heaven! Lots of scenic areas, waterfalls, small creek crossing. There are numerous bailouts, and a gravel road running through the middle, so even though it seams like you've left civilization far behind, it's just a mile or two away.
There is a section of trail that is hike only in the south east corner( likely what the previous reviewer was referring to as un-rideable). There is a parallel trail that is nearby to give access. See pictures for note on this.
Rode most of Perimeter Trail, about 20 miles. Parking at trailhead is easiest at Cheston Trail beginning. Recommend going CounterClockwise. The final 1 mile of Perimeter is not rideable, it is hike a bike and rock climbing.
Really fun trail system, we enjoyed it.
There were a couple of rock drops that push this trail into the advanced category.

I will ride this again!
