Mountain Biking Pinckney Island

***   Add a review
#65 of 115 mountain bike trails in South Carolina
#5,435 in the world

Fairly large network of gravel and grass roads that take you all over Pickney Island. Biking is really the best way to see the island and the wildlife that lives here. The island is completely flat and the only technical obstacles you'll run into are a few rooty sections of doubletrack. I saw a racoon, some wild turkeys, crabs, and many other birds on my trip. Nice place to ride some dirt while on vacation at the beach.

Good family ride. Bring binoculars for birds, gators and critters. Easy flat and scenic.

Primarily double track/gravel roads. Some wide single track can be found hidden off the main roads. Very flat beginner trails with outstanding views of moss covered trees and the salt water marsh that surrounds the island. Abundant and interesting wildlife. Don't expect any monster drops, just a few exposed roots.

Thanks for posting this review. I'm a mountain person myself, but wow, that area looks beautiful.

Like previous reviews stated, it's more of a scenery ride on gravel and not on smooth paved road and definitions off no off roading. I enjoyed it, just make up your own course and go for it!

I gave this trail 3 stars because of the biking and scenery. If you want to go trail riding this is not the trail for you. If you want to ride your bike and see some amazing scenery this is a trail for you. It is a great trail for beginners and for those who dont really want to go off road. It was a very fun and enjoyable ride for my wife and I. Very flat, not technical at all. There is a good chance to see wildlife.

This is not a singletrack. Not intended for the use that most people on this site are seeking. It is a wildlife preserve that has gravel roads running through it.

Great marsh and intercoastal views. Take it easy or go all out.

Nice ride with the whole family. I pushed my 2-year-old daughther on one of those trail bikes and she loved it going thru the grass and swampy areas... Just to be able to stop and see all the wild life was awesome...
