Mountain Biking Project X
#5 of 5 mountain bike trails in China
Good moderately technical climb. Can be ridden by a solid intermediate rider but to make it all the way up without putting a foot down will challenge the skill and stamina of even stronger riders. Pretty consistent climb that switches back on the side of a mountain that overlooks lamma channel, one of the most busy shipping channels in the world. It is worth taking it all in and watching the container ships steam by with the western side of Hong Kong island as a back drop. Nice downhill that is a good mix of some technical rocky sections on the early part of the descent and more flowy, bermed turns lower down.
Trail is only maintained seasonally and jungle overgrows it quickly after monsoon season. Best time to ride it is in the winter dry season.

From ferry pier take only road into town, go left at the first turn just after the HSBC ATM. Left at the fork and up a steep hill. Go right towards the public bathroom. Stay on road until you hit a road that looks like it is meant for cars (no cars allowed on the island so it is used only by HK electric vehicles to service the local power plant and electric lines) turn left onto that road. Start climbing up the hill and keep an eye out on the right side for paths that go into the jungle. Several entry points - if you start going downhill you have gone too far.
