Mountain Biking Purisma Creek
#84 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California
Get ready for a fun singletrack downhill. There are several switchbacks on the smooth ride
down, nothing technical here. It can be really muddy once in the dense green forest. 3.5
miles later you'll find yourself at another trailhead. Take the Harkins Ridge trail back up to
the parking lot or Purisma Creek Trail (preferred). The Purisma Creek Trail is a lovely ride
by the creek for a while and then a gradual 3+ mile climb on doubletrack for nearly 1700 ft
all the way to Skyline Blvd. Take the road north (left) for an easy 2 miles back to your car.
Overall, the ride is fun, easy, and the wildflowers and surroundings are lovely.

From 280 or 101 take Hwy 92 exit west towards Half Moon Bay. Turn south (left) on Skyline
Blvd/Hwy 35. Parking lot is 4.5 miles down the road on the right. Trail maps available at
the trailhead.
First time taking this trail and it was fun great ride and a long walk back up haha.... definantly take 2 vehicles next time
Thank |A lot of fun! Many trails off of Purisma that can allow you to make this a longer ride. Great downhill...can get steep in a couple of spots.
Thank |I started at the bottom parking lot from hwy 1 just out of half moon bay, it was a steep climb on the double track side about a 1400 foot elevation change but plenty of spots to take a lung catch up break, 3.4 miles then you hit the single track side. Super fun and fast down hill a few tight corners check your brakes, the few hikers I ran across moved over very polite,no issues so I didnot run them over, I liked it great views with ferns and deep woods sun at the top of the mt. being 52 I only walked my bike about 3 or 4 times going up, steep in a few spots I`m going back soon to try the other loop 6.0 miles that runs north to south.
Thank |What everyone else says is pretty accurate, but why does everyone start at the top? Start at the bottom, earn the downhill first while you still have all your energy, then bomb downhill to the small parking lot. Good times!
Thank |Very fun downhill ride, but the looong climb back out kind of kills the fun you had on the way down.
There are 4-6 places you have to dismount and walk it uphill over rock gardens on the way back, really kills any climbing momentum.
Thank |First half is a nice downhill. Great scenery, redwoods. Uphill is long, but mostly shady and OK for intermediate level.
Thank |All downhill and then all up. I prefer to mix it up. Also the trails are far too tailored for my taste. Not technical at all. Great views, but I won't be back for mountain biking.
Thank |Ripping down hill but boy do you pay for it. for a change up to the park south. then it is epic. that is your clue for tody
