The Trail loops around lake and offers a scenic ride for beginners and novice who want a quick lunch ride. Best parking is on the north side of the lake off Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. For the most workout head west counter clockwise around the lake and when you get to the east side of the lake hop up on the street (Quail Lake Rd). You should see a nice single track leading down the hill on the east side of the road(Quail Lake Rd). The Singletrack offers a fun downhill with a few fun surprises to keep you on your toes. Great Track for beginners to practice balance and control. When you get to the bottom of the hill just hop on to Venetucci Blvd and ride north to Cheyenne Mountain Blvd and ride back up to the lake. The street Climb really gets your heart pumping so you can continue the rest of the way around the lake. This is a great urban trail loop for lunch or after work to keep in shape.

Not much to this trail. I knew that it wasn't going to be a very long ride, but chose it to get my 6 and 8 year old out on a trail to see where they stand. My 10 year, my wife, and I, I know it wasn't challenging enough. With slow riding complete in 10 minutes.

There's zero reason to bring a MTB here unless you live in the adjacent apartment complex and hav no time to go anywhere else. Even as a beginner trail, it lacks any featues of interest, scenery or distance that is readily available at many other venues in the immediate area.

As mentioned previously, this is a great beginner's trail. If all you do is the .9 mile loop around the lake, this doesn't even qualify as a mtn bike trail, as the path around the lake is wider than 6 feet throughout. However, on the southwest corner of the lake (assume riding counterclockwise), there is a singletrack trail that runs the southside of the lake. I think this is mainly used by people walking down to the lake to fish, so watch out for people. Once you cross Quail Lake Road, there is a short singletrack downhill then a very tame singletrack trail that leads to Venetucci near the theatre. Then you have a easy uphill climb, either on sidewalk or the bike lane, back up to the parking lot.

I took my 12 year old son here for his first trip and it was perfect for him to learn on. The one problem I had with the singletrack portions of this trail was it was very overgrown, and the weeds whip your legs as you ride by. Of course, we rode this in the beginning of July, so I guess that is to be expected. This would be a good trail to take a child or girlfriend you're trying to get into mountainbiking without scaring them. The only reason this doesn't get the "Easiest" rating is because of the short downhill singeltrack right across Quail Lake Rd.

Not a bad little place to take kids or a non-serious cycling date, but it's no place to do any serious riding. Still, not bad for what it is, a small, wide-open dirt trail.
