Mountain Biking Rockburn Skills Park
#6 of 99 mountain bike trails in Maryland
This is a very family friendly skills park to help you get acclimated to mountain bike skills like pumping, jumping, and handling rock gardens. The park has 3 short trails you can take:
1. Easy route: Pumps and berms with one or 2 small jumps
2. Jump route: Large table tops for air time
3. Rock Garden: A fairly long rock garden with a few logs to ride across to hone in your rock garden skills.
4. Return trail with a rock garden climb option.
There is also a pump track.
There are awesome singletrack trails at nearby Patapsco State Park as well as a few multi use trails you can ride at Rockburn Branch.

The trails in Rockburn are okay, not great but good for those who don't want to go on a long ride. if you want to ride trails Potapsco is nearby so go there. The pump track is nice, but their is really no beginner jump line. Since it is placed on a hill maintain speed through the jumps is much easier, however you do have to ride back up this hill after you do the jump lines.
Thank |I have to say, I really enjoyed riding here. The trails are short, intense, and loads of fun. I never knew that I could get comfortable in the air on a mountain bike. I have been looking form more trails like this in my area, but no such luck.
The only gripe I have is that the pump track seems to be to small for a MTB. It made it difficult for me to get the free speed and felt a little tight, and that was on a small frame with 26" tires (May have been a lack of skill, but I just couldn't find it).
All in all, I will go back. Definitely .
Thank |Plan and simple, this place is FUN! Every time I have come out, I always meet friendly people from tweens to grizzlied older guys that still urn for fun. The actual riding here won't get your mileage up for the year, but it will make you exponentially better on single tracks once you learn to ride the runs.
The easy trail is most applicable to most local single tracks. Learning to pump the terrain here has helped me gain "free" speed at places like Rosaryville, Schaeffer Farms, and Fountainhead. The intermediate run has gotten me used to air time on a bike. It is also simply a lot of fun to try and clear the jumps. The advanced rock gardens are great for working on bombing through rock gardens in control without having to go too far into the wilderness to figure it out.
Go spend a few hours here on whatever you like. BMX, XC, AM, DJ, anything will be a blast.
Thank |Rockburn Branch Park (http://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails/rockburn-branch-park.html) is comprised of both the Rockburn Skills Park and Rockburn Branch Loop (http://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails/rockburn-branch-loop.html). The Rockburn Branch Loop actually connects the Rockburn Skills Park and Patapsco Valley State Park (once you cross Landin Rd to the Morning View Trail that is). The skills park is small but awesome. It is comprised of a pump track, an easy flow track with switchbacks, pump hills, and small jumps, a jump track with larger tabletop jumps, and a diamond back rock garden track. If the skills park gets to packed it almost wouldn't be worth the wait despite its fun-ness. The Rockburn Branch Loop isn't really much other than a connector trail to Patapsco ... nothing to really report there. The skills park is well worth your visit! Once you're done go ride some Patapsco single track!
Thank |please note that this trail closed on july 12 and will reopen soon
Thank |This place is awesome, the jumps are sweet, pump track is amazing and the rock line is insane! I would go here every day if I could.
Thank |Great family hang out. Something fun for everybody here. The most difficult run down the rock garden line is a BEAST. Lost of nearby singletrack to ride as well.
Thank |Just went for the first time last Saturday with my 2 sons. Lots of fun. Small and Medium runs are great! Did them over and over. Large run seemed too technical with big rock gardens. Easy to ride from Skills Park to large trail network in Patapsco Valley S.P.
