Mountain Biking Rocky Ridge County Park

****   Add a review
#24 of 293 mountain bike trails in Pennsylvania
#1,322 in the world

The park is riddled with roch gardens and large obstacles. most are rideable by fairly novice riders, but there are also some pretty gnarly stuff to ride. from the first right parking lot, a good route is trail 7 to the end of the fittness trail, pass the south lookout platform and into the back parking lot. from there go up the walking trail (trail 1) and go straight until you get to trail 2 and go right. from there ride till you pass the north lookout and the beggining of the new trail 4 is there( 4 is technical in some parts, but really fun) then at the bottom of 4 hop on trail 5 and either get off the connecter or go around the 3/4 mile loop or so back to the parking lot. this is my favorite loop. there are plenty of ways to get around the park, if you take the back trails (8 and 9 most notably) get ready to climb excessively are hike-a-bike; it can get pretty intense back there.

Getting there
from route 30, take the mt zion road exit and go north on route 24. pass the york galleria mall ( it will be on the left side) and go up a pretty large hill. right after the top of the hill there is a hidden road on the right. It is named Deininger road, turn right on deininger and faollow it straight back till you are in the park and see the first two lots to the right and left of you.

I have now been riding here since April and I love the place. It offers a variety of difficulty and technical challenges. There are still some trails here too tough for me, but I can see progress each time I ride.

It is a great place to enjoy your ride and increase your skills.

This was my first ride here and I found it both fun and challenging. Rock Gardens, roots, logs and technical ascents & descents, in short, everything I need to ride to improve my skill set.

I found the trail markers pretty easy to follow, but I had Trailforks running the whole time as well.

Some sections were tough, for me, but that means I have to ride them more. It is a 50 minute drive for me but I will definitely be back!.

Not very beginner friendly. I have been there twice with my 10 year old and he loves trail 8 and 4. Still more to explore.

This isnt beginner friendly what so ever. Trails arent clearly marked(no color coding.) Lots of downhill loose rocks.

Otherwise if you are comfortable and experienced this is worth it.

These are my home trails and they are great. Lots of rocks! lots of different trails to ride on and lots of loop options. Also since it is a ridge and the parking lots are at the top you never ride to far from the parking lots. Trails are diverse enough that everyone can enjoy them. There are definitely trails that new riders should stay off of.

I can't seem to find anything about the chainbreakers group ride at rocky ridge. I can't find anything about the bike group itself. help?

very cool trail with STEEP hills and many challenging turns and rocks. Trails are very slipppery and almost dangerous when snow is on the ground. Scenic View near the parking lot.

Once you get past of why it got it's name. The park is just non stop fun. The Gut is the coolest. Lot of technical ride the broken chair is really fun with banked switch backs drop offs. I read the review from the Chain breakers his route is awsesome. I have been only riding for 10 mos, You really appreciate a full suspension bike at this park.

Fun trail. Mostly single and double track. Flows really nice and fast. Rocky in places but all very rideable. There are some fun boulders you can ride on if you want to get creative. You can end up in some neighborhoods at the bottoms of a couple of the hills. Worth riding it if you are near by.

This place is the bomb. Trail 4 is extremely fun. If you're looking to get the uphill workout trail 9 will destroy your legs if you don't walk.

One of my favorite places to ride. It is rocky but you can ride it if you have the skills :)
Alot of new single track trails have been added along with berms for some of the downhills!
If it has rained recently call York county parks to be sure the trails are open

just rode here for my first PA MTB ride. Im from southwest MI. this was intense. long DH then a big uphill... compared to what Im used to. very rocky. but seems like it a great place to ride if you can pump it back up the hills. fun drops and log crossings. Great MTB experience

This is a great place to ride and hone your technical skills. Some of the trails in the lower sections are massive rock gardens, not insurmountable, just challenging and the rocks are sharp, tire ripping sharp. The new cut sections of trail are well designed for flow and usage of terrain features. One of these newer trails uses a series of banked switch backs and large bolder drops that made the ride even more enjoyable. The network of trails are not easy to follow, I plan to spend a fair amount of time and will hopefully figure the out the best composition of trail to ride. * Review edited 3/11/2012

Rocky ridge is a great place to ride for an advanced rider that likes rocks. Few beginner trails. You can get some good technical climbing in on trail 9. The trails are not well marked so its best to have a guide. Contact the local club YAMBA to arrange a ride with someone
