Ryan Park has evolved into the best place in Rhode Island for a beginner to learn to mountain bike. Most trails are flat with minimal obstacles- a few roots, rocks or zooming through a shallow stream. There are a few short up/downs near Route 4 on the West side and an interesting ridge trail with plenty of rocks and whoop de doops. A fun area where you could spend up to 2 hours if you rode every trail.
I ride here regularly. It's fast and flowy, lots of fun! Not technical but has a few punchy hills. The loop is around 8 miles - I start behind the softball field next to the pond. The highway section and ridge trails are a blast!
