Mountain Biking Salem Town Forest

**   Add a review
#56 of 114 mountain bike trails in New Hampshire
#7,154 in the world

The pacific northwest has nothing on this place. Painstakingly created network of bridges, tree crossings, seesaws, etc. Most of it is for experts, and you had better be, otherwise get off and walk. Absolute insanity in some spots!! Probably one of the most difficult series of singletracks in the Northeast. Definitely a triple black diamond rating in many of the secluded singletrack areas. One downside is that there are a number of deadends, but when you get to know the layout, these can be avaoided.

Getting there
Take exit 3 from Rte. 93N; right from the exit; left at the lights. Continue through 2 sets of lights, crossing Rte. 28, passing a US Gas station. Just past the Elks club on the left, and the town yard on the right, there is a sign and parking area for the Salem Town Forest. Park there, ride over the bridge and be prepared.

Ok first thing. TH is on Shadow Lake Rd. SE of Shadow Lake. ( there are 2 Shadow Lake Rd's) Next to the Hwy Maint Yard. Second; there are maybe 3 miles of trail on town owned land, (5 miles of riding to ride it all) some easy, most intermediate, with a few advanced options, overall a good, fun in town system.
Third; the trails on private property; if you like brushwaking unmaintained trails on a Salsa Mukluk fat bike,,, have fun!
Finally; trails only open Dawn to Dusk.

Fun riding, well blazed and numbered trails.
Had a great ride with some nice singletrack riding on trails other than a,e, and f.

You can spend a good few hours here and get a great ride in.

This was a waste of time. I found nothing but double track and it was either flat, unmaintained, torn up by atvs, or some combination of the three. I didn't find anything that this website mentions, and if someone can find this stuff please leave a comment saying how.
