Mountain Biking Sanders Reserve & Bike Park
#55 of 171 mountain bike trails in North Island
Sanders Reserve and Bike Park is a haven of peace and green grass in the urban morass of Auckland. There are nice views of the upper harbour. It's a great place for families and beginning mountain bikers. There is a wonderful kids area right in front of the main building which has a large shade veranda. Incidentally, you'll also find the best toilets for mountain bikers on the planet inside, showers too!
There are about 20km of mountain bike trails that weave their way over the grass and through the trees. There are strategically placed little rock obstacles, some sharpish corners, and some mini table tops but the trails are generally very easy, The trail makers were inconsistent, however, and put in little sections of quite hard bits here and there. Beginners can easily walk around them.

From downtown Auckland, take State Highway One north. At Albany, take exit 412, the Albany Expressway, then Paremoremo Road and Sanders Road. But that's a brief summary. Use the singletracks app to take you there or use Google Maps which recognises "Sanders Reserve". Its about 30 minutes from the CBD.
