Mountain Biking Scotts Run / Hinman Creek

This trail is a mixture of singletrack, and forest service road. Begin on Seedhouse Road and go north on Wyoming Trail 1101 and follow for several miles north as it traverses large sections of burn zone. The ascent is gradual and should be fairly easy for most riders. You will cross at the bridge and follow the forest service road for about a mile or so and keep to the left whenever possible.

You will eventually see a small sign that is Trail 1177. This begins the singletrack again, and this becomes a mixture of stretches of fun, fast singletrack and slow rocky technical sections. When you get to the creek crossing you have a very steep climb which will probably require some bike pushing. Once at the top though, you are treated to some nice forest riding and Aspen groves. There is a nice place to stop at Hinman Lake (you should see it through the trees). The final descent is pretty good, and it puts you out on another forest service road. Go right, and follow back to Seedhouse Road, and thus back to the car.

Overall this is a pretty good trail if you are out in the Steamboat area. It is fairly technical in places, and thus can be a bit dangerous. There are some rocky sections that are impossible to ride which are near a cliff edge. Luckily these sections are few and short however. The rest of the trail is generally good singletrack.

Live in SS and although Scott's is good, there is better (like the Divide Trail from Dumont Lake to the top of Mt. Werner (one way or round trip) and shouldn't be included in the same category with likes of the Colorado Trail, Monarch Crest or Phil's World. It is single track and one may not see another human the entire path on a weekday or weekend during summer.
Be wary, make nioise and wear blaze orange during all hunting seasons.

Fun descent with mixed terrain. Technical rock ledges, fast and flowy downhills through aspen forests and exposed brushy areas. There is a pretty burley climb in the midst of the trail, those who can conquer it are king!

Scott's Run (also known as the Hinman Creek Trail) is a narrow singletrack trail in the North Routt National Forest. It goes through some burned out areas that are just gorgeous! Some sections are difficult, but overall it's not bad.
The trails up here in the Seedhouse area don't get very much traffic at all. In fact, they seem to be on the verge of not getting enough traffic... but not quite! If you're sick of the crowds on the trails closer to Steamboat, come on up here!

It seems kind of ludicrous to give this trail a one-star rating, since you didn't even ride the Scott's Run Trail.
