A view of a gravel path leading into a wooded area, bordered by tall green grass and trees. Sunlight filters through the leaves overhead, creating dappled shadows on the ground. In the background, a sign can be seen at the edge of the path, indicating a trail entrance. Seven Lakes State Park mountain bike trail.

Some easy stretches and some intermediate stretches. You'll come across hikers periodically and some fallen trees across the path. I had fun going from #4 to #18 and back again.

I would rate this a good beginner ride. One should reference the posted maps on the trail and improvise your loops accordingly (riding chronologically has almost no flow). It's multi use (watch for hikers) and multi directional.

It's a local gem for sure, but I wouldn't travel more than 15 minutes out of my way to ride here when there are a number of better trails further south toward Detroit and Ann Arbor.

Poorly marked trail. I got lost a few times while carrying a map. At many points the trail splits off with no signage or indication of which direction to go.

Some sections are not well kept or well suited for mountain biking, including one section of steep stairs.

The scenery is great, however. And when the trail isn't muddy or overgrown, it's a good time.

A fun little surprise that doesn't get enough love thanks to nearby Holdridge. A large park with boating, hunting, and multi-use trails, once you get far enough away from the trailhead it develops into some ncie singletrack. Nothing overly technical, but some short and quite steep climbs and drops. Some man-made obstacles do give quick bursts of technicality. Biggest con is baffling navigation, including a number of sections that dump out into roads, parking lots, etc. where you have to putter around trying to find the next checkpoint/trailhead. All in all, definitely worth a couple of visits if you're a SE Michigan rider, particularly nice if you're from the Flint area and want somewhere else close besides Holdridge :P
