Mountain Biking Skunk Hollow/ S Fork American River Trail

#335 of 1,004 mountain bike trails in California

Connector Trail between Cronan Ranch and Salmon Falls. 2 Miles with switchbacks to first summit (highest point on trail). Trail is up/down most of the way few flats. Fun switchback section at about 4 miles. Drops from ridge summit to follow along the American River a ways. Fun Ride but for me very physical, would rate about twice or more the difficulty of Salmon Falls ride.

Fun trail that can be ridden from Cronan Ranch to Salmon Falls or the other way which is how I recommend it be ridden. Rocky climb for a few miles with switchbacks, but nothing too steep. It has some longer climbs than Salmon Falls but only a couple of steep climbs. Great views of the river at some points and towards the end (Cronan Ranch side) there is a river access trail if you feel like some water to cool off in the summer. Some good downhill rips with some flowy sections as well.

Nice ride, clear signage, very exposed with little shade. All up or down with no flat areas. Not technical ride. Tough on a singlespeed.
