Mountain Biking Snakedance Loop

****   Add a review
#115 of 416 mountain bike trails in Arizona
#3,906 in the world

This is a very whimsical and fun ride. This trail head is at the Southern end of the "Christmas Tree" or "Bunny" Loop which is the long North/South loop that you are riding. Most people access this trail from the North. However coming in from the South reveals a relatively new and fun ride. All trails in this system are single track and are all meant to be ridden as counter clockwise one-way loops. The Snakedance trail is marked with a sign on the right about one half mile from the Valencia trail head. It is a really fun beginners ride through dense cactus jungles, lots of fun. After about three miles it seamlessly blends you back onto the main trail going North. Since this is a one-way only trail system you then need to go North two miles to the "junction" where the "Bunny" intersects with the more popular Northern loop. Keep taking left turns through the junction and you'll end up on the three mile trail leading back to your car.

Getting there
From Interstate 10 on the East side of Tucson take S Houghton Rd North for about seven miles to E. Valencia Rd. Turn West (left) and drive exactly one mile. Look for the parking area on the right (North) side of the road. There is a sign on the fence where there is a bike gate.
