#23 of 114 mountain bike trails in Connecticut
THIS IS MY FAVORITE AREA IN THE NORTHERN CT AREA. ANYONE ONE WHO HAS BEEN HERE KNOWS. YOU CAN RIDE ALL DAY LONG AND NOT HIT THE SAME TRAIL ONCE. SOMERS MTN. CAN BE AS TOUGH OR AS EASY AS YOU LIKE & AS TECHNICAL AS YOU LIKE IT. LOTS OF BIG ROCKS TO JUMP OFF OR TO CLIMB. THIS AREA BY FAR IS A WORTHY TRIP AND I'M SUPRISED IT'S NOT ON THIS SITE. CHECK IT OUT!!!

THere are so many miles of riding here it is easy to spend hours. The trails are rooty and rocky but hey this is New England so that is what you expect.
Thank |Alot of rocks and roots, climbs and downhills, good flow and very technical. You can really shred the trails if you ride them
Thank |Enough. Many miles of trails. Check out trails around the four way intersection of webster road and soapstone. Blue white yellow.
Great mix of trails. I find something new every time I ride here. I also find myself riding here anytime I'm in the area. Go to spot for wmass and northern ct folk.
Thank |I recently visited Somers Mountain - Shenipsit State Forest. It's a great place for technical riding. I parked at the bottom of Soap Stone Rd and tried to ride a couple of trails up to Lookout Tower. Operative word is tried. The first trail was clearly meant for hiking, and the second one was impossible (for me) to climb (taking it downhill was challenging, but not impossible - I think it was "Quarry trail"). After getting out of the demoralizing section I had a great ~10 mile ride along a number of trails. Next time I need to find a better entrance to the trails - I found Webster road quickly connected with good trails, so I will look for a place to park along there next time.
Thank |This is a great place to be and it is extremely difficult to get out with you life. There is a firing range nearby so dodging bullets is a must. Wear a bullet proof vest and wear orange. Don't make any sudden movements or any loud animal noises. YOU WILL BE SHOT! Careful...
