Mountain Biking Split Rock Trail

**   Add a review
#195 of 289 mountain bike trails in Florida

The trail is a doubletrack/fire road loop that has good out and back singletrack all around it. The trail is mostly beginner with no elevation change or major obstacles. Not much traffic, so it can be a peaceful ride..

The trail is easy to ride, little roots and rocks to ride over. My main complaint is that the loop trail isn't a loop. It ends at the marsh. It is impossible to find your way through the marsh. I had to turn around and go the other way around the loop.

Loop through preserve accessed off 20th Ave near Linton Oaks. Easy trail with little elevation change, though pretty to ride through.

This place is crap! Do yourself a big favor, Don't come here. Might as well to go to Orlando or Deland. A big waste of time.

Very boring. Just one big circle into the woods. Nothing to challenge you.

Just went for a ride on this trail today. I didn't realize that there was a cool bike trail right next to my apartment. It was pretty easy, however I was using a walmart bike so that made it harder. Off of the main trail theres some paths that are pretty fun to ride, alot of spider webs, dead trees, and low hanging branches though.* Review edited 7/3/2012

Boring in my eyes there is one nice descent with some nice rocks and roots and a pretty good hill climb to make the trip worth a try otherwise it looks like they just took a mower through the middle of the woods and carved a trail

This is actually a good ride right in the middle of Gainesville. I got about 4.5 miles of double/singletrack and saw some nice scenery. The trail itself is not “technical” at all and is suitable for beginners. The one down side is that most of the singletrack is out and back off of a doubletrack loop.

Rider questions

Q: What is the location?
A: It is across the highway near cabana beach apartments, there is a little sign to the left as you come off the bridge.
