Mountain Biking Stronghold Loop

***   Add a review
#235 of 417 mountain bike trails in Arizona
#8,604 in the world

A rugged and awesome loop through the Dragoon Mountains. This loop features a bit of hike-a-bike, a little sand, dirt roads, and spectacular scenery. This area has some of the best rock climbing in the US. Head out on this ride for a climbing rest day.

There is dispersed camping on both sides.

This trail has some of the most amazing scenery I have seen, now the bad part, I didn't enjoy the trail that much. Lots of sand and too much hike a bike. I started at the horse trailer parking lot and rode for a ways before switching back down to the campground. There may me better sections but that will take another visit, and as I'm coming up from Sierra Vista probably won't be in the near future. In the same time I could drive to Fantasy Island. Also as of note, the campground is closed from 1 June-1 Sept.
