From Electric Mountain Visitor Center, turn left onto the main road. After you've passed the Snowdon Mountain Railway, climb to a small roundabout. Turn right and follow this road past the houses and the junction with a road on the right. The first big, steep climb of the ride will meet you before you go through a cattle guard on the road. Once you get the the gate, follow the steep road right to the start of the Llanberis path.
This is where things get interesting. Rolling through beautiful, windswept pasture, riders slowly wind their way up loose shale and boulders on there way to the summit. Because there is not a tree in sight, stunning views accompany you, increasing in magnitude as you get higher and higher. You'll need them, too; at least half of this climb is hike-a-bike.
After grabbing a couple of photos at the top, start back down the Llanberis Path. Some stairs and a few technical sections will be featured before the Ranger Path. Take a left at the two trails' (there will be a pillar that says the trail's the Ranger Path) fork and buckle up. Quickly cross the railroad tracks and dive into an unpredictable, rock-littered, unnervingly fast descent. The middle section just makes everything bigger. The grades are more extreme, the switchbacks tighter, and the rocks larger as you pick your way down chutes. After an unrideable climax to the descent, the track mellows out into a tread significantly flatter but still pretty rocky.
Once you hit the first gate of the descent, the trail soon reaches another gate and a stream crossing. Although you'll have to climb out of the valley, a short but amazing water bar-staggered downhill begins afterward. Soon you will meet a faint trail going to Llanberis on the right. Take it, and endure the excruciatingly difficult climb it holds. Cross the gate at the top, and continue down the trail that traverses the valley to the left. A few awkward water bars will meet you here, but you can make the most out of them by bragging to your buddies about your boosting abilities. At the bottom of the descent, the trail turns left and eventually becomes a road.
After riding it for awhile, take a right at its intersection with a gated trail and go all the way to where it dead-ends into a bigger road in Llanberis. Turn right a continue to Llanberis' main road. Turn left to follow the road back to Electric Mountain Visitor Center.
Note: Remember that weather can be very unpredictable on Snowdon. Carry everything you might possibly need. In addition, you have to do this ride early. Bikes are banned on Snowdon's trails from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout most of the riding season.
