Mountain Biking Tokai Forest
#1 of 79 mountain bike trails in South Africa
It is a mixture of fireroads to gain elevation with knarly singletrack down. The very top is technical and scary at points with huge drops crossing the fireroad. At the lower section it has log rides and huge jumps with landing ramps. I think this trail connects to a larger system with silver mine and may link up to Table Mountain.

Coming from Cape Town travel on the M3 toward Constantia. Take the Tokai Rd exit and turn right heading into Tokai. You will cross over the M42 (Steenberg Rd/Orpen Rd). Continue straight on Tokai Rd until you come to a building the Rd takes a hard right turn. You need to turn left onto the dirt road and it will take you to the pay station for the park. The trail head is immediately behind the building. It starts out as a fireroad to gain elevationand you can enter any of the singletracks once up the hill.

Really great trail I loved it
Thank |Tokai forest is my mountain biking soul mate.
Thank |Tokai comprises steep climbs (1400ft to Silvermine Rd and 2500 ft to Noordhoek Pass) on a mix on fire roads and single track. Those training for XC can use the mountain to build endurance and climbing and user the single tracks on the way down. The place is well maintained and the resident baboons and now mating tortoises are always entertaining. Great place to ride and people very friendly.
Trail is mix of fire road and single track so grading tool doesn't work
Thank |Home trail, variety, technical, speed, choice and flow. Loads of good singletrack of course
Thank |Ranges from beginner to advanced, and is suitable for all MTB styles - endurance, technical, downhill, casual, fitness. A great place to test and unwind.
