Mountain Biking Tom Blake Trail
#129 of 1,392 mountain bike trails in Colorado
NOTE: There is an annual closure of this trail for elk calving from May 15th - June 20th. This is just a blazing trail. I prefer to access this trail from Owl Creek Rd. TH. A gradual climb on perfect singletrack gets it started. The trail traverses E/W and begins to roll through groves of aspen. This very narrow trail rips along with fantastic flow and does require some navagation through a residential neighborhood. There are signs to lead you to the next section. The trail ends at the Snowmass Village Mall.

From I-70 exit #116 and take HWY 82 towards Aspen. At Brushcreek Rd. turn R and proceed uphill until you reach Base Village at Snowmass, parking is abundant. From here, are several options to access the mountain to Tom Blake Trail. Grab a free trail map at any of the bike shops in the area.

Started from the east end, and climbed up to the residential road. Good climb. Very smooth trails mostly. We road it back, along with the highline trail back to the Rec Center parking lot. Very fun, with about 1000 vert feet of climbing.
Thank |When riding west, when you get to the residential road, be sure to turn LEFT and go up the hill to connect to the trail again. There will be a sign; we've highlighted the "left" arrow better to guide you.
Fun intermediate singletrack, some pavement involved; easily connected from Powerline Trail or Valhalla near their intersection.
Thank |You can link this trail to others in Snowmass Village, and if your lungs/legs are up to it, ride the road 2-3 miles back to the Village when your done for a great 18-20 mile loop with 3500+ feet of elevation gain at alpine altitudes. Bring about 100 oz of water if you do this. This trail is best ridden in the summer/fall and is closed in the winter/spring for obvious reasons...powder! The initial climb is non technical, but a booger and a 'warm up' for the flowing, often rocket speed, single track at the top. The views from the summits are amazing. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a workout and beautiful ride on a well maintained trail. Note: there is a marker in the middle of the trail that points left for 'experts only'. They are not kidding. It is a legburner uphill, and a steep downhill with loose scree just waiting to chop your knees and elbows up. Go right at the sign (the non expert route) and you will still have a great workout.
Thank |Great singletrack. Can get going pretty fast.
