The South Shore Trail (doubletrack) follows the south shore of the lake for 2.5 miles at which point you can look for the gate to the shouth that will take you an additional mile into Long's Canyon. There's also the four mile Reilly Canyon trail on the North side of the lake.

Getting there
From I-25 in Trinidad, take the exit for Highway 12 west. Follow the signs for highway 12 through town and beyond. A couple miles past town, look for the bib brown signs indicating the park on the South side of Highway 12.

    There's not much in the way of singletrack here. The doubletrack isn't very interesting. It is soft, then grassy. There are rolling hills, but the doubletrack is perfectly straight and the hills, while short, are still a pain due to sheer lack of interest. Even the Longs Canyon area won't hold your attention as a bike ride. On the positive side, there are nice views of the Spanish Peaks and the Sangre de Christos. Long's Canyon has some wetlands with establiched wildlife watching areas as well.
