Mountain Biking Tuul River

**   Add a review
#44 of 70 mountain bike trails in Mongolia
#14,961 in the world

From the bridge on the way to the airport, follow the river east. There is a rather random set of trails running along both sides of the river. Follow these about 10 miles to the Bayan Zurikh Tovchoo bridge on the far east side of town. You go under five bridges total including the bridges on both ends and the railroad bridge. There is no set route. You just have to pick and choose your way, following whatever trail you find. When the river is low you can cross it in many places. And in the winter you can ride the river in the entire route on the very thick ice.

The entire route is flat with some steep drops along the way, especially off the dike on the north side of the river. The tracks along the way include single track (foot & cattle trails), double track, and old 4x4 trails. It's all quite random.

Sometimes you are riding in open stands of populars, other times in willow and altar thickets. Some trails just fizzle out; others lead you to the river and crossings; still others will follow a general course for quite a distance.

You can also continue to follow the river to Gachuurt or even much further to Terelch. Terelch might require an overnight.
