Vega Lake has a paved/ gravel road all the way around it, and a pretty cool singletrack trail parallels the road for much of the way. From the northwest corner of the lake, the singletrack can be accessed just north of the sign and roadway. The trail stays north of the road for ~ 0.8 miles, then crosses the road near the lodge, dropping down near the lakeshore.
This bit of singletrack ends at a campground, and from here you'll have to ride the road around the east end of the lake.
When you get around to the south side of the lake, watch for the singletrack to reappear just north of the road at a picnic area. This part is the best section of the loop, and the trail whoops along the shore of the lake for a bit, then crosses the road again and heads up into the thick forest. Three flattened two-log bridges span streams in this section, and you'll need to pick one log to ride, or your tire may slip between the logs. This section of singletrack pops out at the Leon Creek parking area. From here pick whichever route you'd like around the campground and visitors center and across the dam to where you began
